Dermal Filler Christchurch
At The Face, we don't just treat the area you point to. We look at your whole face first - because filler that truly works is filler that fits you.
What Is Dermal Filler?
volume, soften lines, and reshape facial contours. It's one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the world - and when it's done well, nobody can tell you've had anything done at all.
As we age, we naturally lose fat, collagen and bone density. This is what causes the hollowing under the eyes, the flattening of the cheeks, and the lines that appear around the mouth. Filler replaces what time takes away, restoring a more refreshed and balanced appearance.
Good filler doesn't change your face. It gives you back a version of yourself you recognise
Botox vs Dermal Filler: What’s the Difference?
This is one of the most common questions we hear - and it’s a great one to ask, because they’re actually quite different treatments.
Botox: For Lines Caused by Movement
Botox works by relaxing the muscles responsible for repetitive facial movements. It’s most commonly used for:
- Frown lines (between the eyebrows)
- Forehead lines
- Crow’s feet (around the eyes)
If a line appears when you move your face and fades when you relax, it’s likely a movement line - and Botox is usually the better fit.
Dermal Filler: For Volume Loss and Contour
Filler restores structure and softness to areas that have lost fullness over time. It’s most commonly used for:
- Cheeks - to lift and restore youthful fullness
- Lips for definition, volume, and shape
- Chin - to balance and define the lower face
- Nasolabial folds - the lines from nose to the corners of the mouth
- Marionette lines - the lines at the corners of the mouth
If a line or hollow is present even when your face is completely still, filler is often the better option.
Not sure which one you need - or whether you need both? That’s exactly what your consultation is for. We’ll give you an honest answer, not a sales pitch.
Why We Look at Your Whole Face First
Here’s something we say to almost every new client:
“You came in wanting one thing - but you might actually need something else. ”
It’s one of the most important things we can tell you, and it’s the reason we do a full consultation before any treatment. A great example: a client comes to us wanting lip filler. Makes total sense - they want more volume and definition in their lips. But during the consultation, we notice something else. Their chin is slightly recessed. If we add lip filler without addressing this first, the lips project forward, the chin appears even more recessed, and the result looks unbalanced - and nothing like them.
The real solution? Chin filler to restore balance to the lower face. Once we do that, everything comes together - and the lips often look better without needing much work at all.
This is what a whole-face approach means. We’re not here to give you as much filler as possible. We’re here to give you a result you’ll love.“
We treat every face individually - because no two faces are the same, and no two treatment plans should be either.

Dermal Filler Treatment Areas at The Face
Every treatment we offer at The Face is tailored to your individual facial structure and goals. Here’s a guide to the most common areas we treat:
Lip Filler
Whether you’re after subtle definition or a little more volume, our lip filler treatments are designed to enhance your lips while keeping them natural. We’ll always discuss the look you’re going for and assess whether lip filler alone will give you the result you want — or whether treating another area first will help even more.
Cheek Filler
Cheeks naturally lose volume and projection as we age, which can make the face look tired or flat. Cheek filler restores lift and structure, often with a subtle but transformative effect on the whole face.
Chin Filler
The chin plays a huge role in facial balance and proportion. Chin filler can strengthen a recessed chin, create better harmony between the upper and lower face, and even improve the appearance of the jawline - all without surgery.
Nasolabial Folds & Marionette Lines
These are the lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds) and from the corners of the mouth downward (marionette lines). Filler can soften these significantly, restoring a more rested and refreshed expression.

Your Treatment
Filler is administered using fine needles or a blunt-tipped cannula, depending on the area being treated. Most appointments take between 30 and 60 minutes. A topical numbing cream is applied beforehand to keep you comfortable throughout.
Your Treatment
You’ll see results immediately - though some initial swelling and tenderness is completely normal and settles within a few days. Final results are typically visible within one to two weeks. Depending on the area treated and your individual metabolism, results last between 9 and 18 months.
